8. Velvet Pumpkins with Metallic Accents & Noir Table-Display

Elevate the humble pumpkin craft into something sumptuous and vintage-spooky by using velvet fabric, metallic stems, and placing them on an antique silver tray for a luxurious display.

Concept: Rather than carving real pumpkins, create decorative velvet pumpkins in black, deep plum, or emerald, with gold/bronze metallic stems. Arrange them on an antique silver-plated tray with black moss, small apothecary bottles, dark candles, and perhaps a crow figurine.

Materials & Method:

  • Use foam pumpkin forms or real mini-pumpkins cleaned and primed.
  • Wrap them in velvet fabric (cut and glue or sew a cover) in rich tones: black velvet, deep green, burgundy.
  • Spray paint the stems with metallic bronze/antique gold and adhere them to the tops.
  • Select an antique silver tray or tarnished mirror tray as the base. Arrange 3–5 velvet pumpkins of varying sizes. Surround with black moss, small faux antique bottles and a few black taper candles.
  • Optional: Add thin metallic ribbon around the pumpkins or a single velvet bow.

Styling Tips:

  • Place this as a table centrepiece (on a dark wood table) or atop a sideboard.
  • Keep the lighting soft and warm; overhead chandelier or wall sconces with amber glass.
